How It Works
This Short & Long Rest Calculator follows the official rules for resting in D&D 5th Edition:
- Short Rest (1 hour): Characters can spend any number of their available Hit Dice. For each die spent, the player rolls the die and adds their Constitution modifier.
- Long Rest (8 hours): A character regains all lost hit points and regains spent Hit Dice up to a number of dice equal to half the character's total number of them (minimum of one die).
- Exhaustion: Finishing a Long Rest reduces a character’s exhaustion level by 1, provided they have ingested adequate food and drink.
